2006 Nitro Buggy Pointscore Series Round # 7

This event was hosted away from the usual OCR Raceway venue and ran over 2 days, at the Darwin Showgrounds on a temporary grass track. The event was run in conjunction with and in support of the Shannons Insurance Motoring Extravaganza to raise funds for the Rotary Clubs, Northern Australia Disaster Fund. Not only was this event an outstanding success in terms of fund raising but as a showcase for Radio Control Motorsport we could not have asked for better with an aproximate 15000 strong crowd over the 2 days, the Biggest Little Motorsport around is now in the minds of many many more people. Not only did the drivers entertain the huge crowd over the 2 days with some spectacular racing, but also donated over $400.00 to the Rotary Clubs fund, well done people !!!
To make the event more exciting it was put to a vote to award double series points to the drivers, which ensured that the racing was hotly contested. Series leader Duy Bui was seriously hooked up all weekend showing the crowds some class driving skills setting the fastest lap of the event with an 18.136 sec and taking the win in all rounds, second place Tony Knauth, while hot on Duy's tail for most of the event, couldnt seem to find that last little bit and then losing a front wheel and hub in round 4 dashed any hope of stopping Duy"s unbeatable winning run in the Series, Duy having won every Series round this season now has an unbeatable lead and is assured of the prized First Place Trophy.
