2007 UPGRADE / RCID Nitro Buggy Pointscore Series Rnd # 13

Well here we are folks at the end of another awesome points series, with the full 13 rounds now run, its time to sort out the scores and present the prizes and trophies, but firstly we need to thank our series sponsors, a big big thank you goes to UPGRADE / RCID for their support of the 2007 series, its something very special to have a company on the other side of the globe come onboard in support of events here in Australia, and lastly we would like to thank Eagle Boys Pizza , OCR Pitshop and all the drivers, supporters and spectators, that made the 2007 Series such a success.

Now on to the race action from Round # 13.

Round 1: With the overall series leader Tony Knauth - HN X1CR - RB - Proline in an unbeatable position on the top of the points, it was always going to be a nice relaxed affair for him, but with the last 2 podium positions still very much up for grabs in the outright Pro Buggy class, between fellow Team OCR driver Neil Ingram - MBX5R - RB, Tam Bui - Xray- Maxpower, Gary Bui - Xray - Maxpower, and Marc Christianson - Losi - OS, it was expected the racing would come hard and fast and after the first round no one was surprised at how aggressive the racing was. Even though there was a fair share of pushing and shoving going on the racing was still reasonably clean and was certainly keeping the spectators excited, the quality of talent showing through at the end with just 16.69 seconds between the Top 6 drivers, with Tam Bui and Tony Knauth battling it out for the whole race out in front it was Tam in the end taking the win aead of Tony with Gary Bui coming home in third.

Round 2: Again it was the Top 5 series drivers battling it out for the honours, this time Gary Bui and Neil Ingram racing hard out in front for the win, with Tony Knauth just 2 seconds behind in third, Tam Bui in fourth and Marc Christianson in fifth, Tony Knauth the only driver in the 33 second bracket with 33.843.

Round 3: As in round 2 it was a real family affair with 4 Bui family members in the Top Ten, with Tam and Gary Bui both in the running for an outright Pro Buggy podium spot, Henry Bui running for the number 2 Junior Buggy position, and Duy Bui the 2006 Points Series Champion back after a season away for the final 2007 round. With this many team members in the heats, you would have to think there were race tactics going on to protect positions, they were not alone though with the HoleShotNitro and Team OCR drivers all playing the race tactic game, all of them with something at stake, it certainly made for some spectacular action, but again it was the super fast Gary Bui taking the win, although not getting it all his own way with Tony Knauth pushing him all race to finish just 2.53 seconds behind, with Neil Ingram in third, and it was nice to see Hyper 8 - RB driver Shaun Stewart break into the group to round out the coveted Top Ten. Gary Bui now with the fastest lap at 33.487 seconds.

Round 4: Saw another new driver making his first appearence in the Top Ten group with young Junior Buggy driver Tom Jones, on his first outing with his new RB WS7II powered HN X1CR, showing a good deal of style and talent Tom made it into the Ten after taking a couple of wins and places in the lower heats. Its great to see some of the new and younger drivers making inroads into the very competitive Ten, Im sure we will see these drivers shine in the 2008 season and give some of the more seasoned drivers a bit of a hurry up! Duy Bui - Xray - RB took the win in this heat, with Tony Knauth and Neil Ingram close behind and Phillip Ciccone coming in fourth with his OS Speed powered MBX5R.

Round 5: The final heat for the 2007 Series saw Gary Bui take the win in style ahead of Neil Ingram, and Marc Christianson, Phillip Ciccone fourth, Tony Knauth fifth, Duy Bui sixth, Tom Jones moving up to seventh with Kyles Hodges and Tam Bui rounding out the final positions.
