Another huge weekend of Nitro Buggy Racing action from the NT with the 2007 Shannons Insurance Extravaganza, The biggest car show in the Northern Territory was attended by 10000 plus spectators, and again this year OCR Raceway put on an awesome display of RC Motorsport, keeping the huge crowds entertained over the weekend, with some spectacular racing as part of the 2007 Pointscore Series. The drivers gained double points in this round towards the series so some big efforts were put in by the drivers. The temporary grass track measured 194 metres with some very fast sections, jumps. bridges and some very tight technical areas, making it a very challenging circuit, which excited the crowds to no end. Early in the event NT #1 Gary Bui and NT # 2 Tony Knauth were blitzing the field putting down some super fast laps breaking into the low 26 second bracket, Tony and Gary fought it out ahead of the pack till a car problem took the NT Champ Gary out of contention leaving his father Tam Bui to try and chase down Tony, Tam getting within a lap of the leader in round 6. In the end after 8 rounds of grueling racing it was Tony Knauth driving the awesome RB powered HN Racing X1CR on Proline tyres that took out the event on 95 laps with Tam Bui Max Power Xray XB8 in second on 93 laps and Marc Christianson in third driving his Nova Rossi powered Losi 8.
Finally we would like to thank all the drivers that attended to put on this awesome show and take RC Motorsport out there in front of a huge crowd, and give them something like they have never seen before, and we should all be very proud to have been able to donate $500.00 to the Rotary Club North Australia Disaster Fund. Well done people.
And remember the next event at OCR Raceway is the 2007 Top End Nitro Challenge , the biggest prizemeoney event in Australia with over $5000.00 in CASH to be won, with some of Australias top drivers attending to fight it out with the best drivers in the NT, this is going to be an event not to miss.!!!!!
