Round # 8 of the 2007 Pointscore brings some very special news, we would like to proudly announce another new sponsor of OCR Raceway events. US company UPGRADE / RCiD have come onboard in support of the 2007 Pointscore Series hosted at OCR Raceway, the series will now be known as the 2007 UPGRADE / RCID Nitro Buggy Pointscore Series , those of you in the RC arena will, Im sure have heard of this company, but for the uninitiated UPGRADE / RCiD are manufacturers and suppliers of quality graphic skins, decals, accessories, check out the website here to see the huge range of quality product available, and as you will see the range is mind boggling, with the range of product available you can fully customise your race package ranging from your buggy / truck body, wings rims etc through to your starter box, glow driver and even your radio system. Now on to the racing, Round 1 saw a brilliant start from the majority of the field with most of the drivers getting a nice clean run through the first few corners and getting settled in quickly, the circuit seems to have changed so much since the last event and was extremely slippery in a few areas, and is becoming very rough and challenging since the Top End Nitro Challenge event last month. Series points leader Tony Knauth X1CR - RB - Proline having a nice clean race got away from the field early with fellow Team OCR driver Neil Ingram MBX5R - RB - Proline in hot pursuit, Gary Bui Xray - Maxpower - Proline was pushing hard to make up the gap to second place with Marc Christianson Losi 8 - Nova Rossi hot on his heels in fourth, Marc setting the fastest lap with a 28.635 secs, in the end though it was Tony Knauth on 15 laps in first Neil Ingram 28.55 sec behind in second and Gary Bui a lap down on 14 laps in third. Round 2 , with the circuit having been watered the grip was starting to come back which saw Marc Christianson get the holeshot only to make a mistake on the first lap, letting Tony Knauth into the lead, but with Marc and Gary Bui in third both on the pace it was an awesome battle for positions over the 15 lap race with Tony taking the win in the end just 12.99 secs ahead of Marc and Gary just 2.73 secs behind him in third, Neil Ingram in fourth and Tam Bui fifth, Gary Bui setting the fastest lap at 28.317 secs. Round 3 saw possibly one of the better races we have ever seen with Neil, Marc and Tony racing wheel to wheel for 15 laps, with the lead changing numerous times every lap, the spectator crowd got what they came to see, with an awesome display of hardcore Nitro Buggy racing from the top 3 drivers with Marc taking the win 0.60 seconds ahead of Tony with Neil close behind in third, Nathan Tampe coming home in fourth and Skip Jackson fifth. Round 4 had Gary Bui getting out in the lead ahead of the pack, and holding it till the end leaving Neil Ingram and Tony Knauth to battle it out for the lower placings, with Neil driving away from Tony in the closing stages of the race, Gary Bui took the round win and the FTD with 16 laps in 8m 17.351 secs the only driver to complete 16 laps on the rough demanding circuit, Neil Ingram second Tony Knauth third, still a very close race with under 15 seconds seperating second and sixth place in the end. Round 5 the final round of the evening, what can we say but another brilliant battle between the top 5 drivers at OCR Raceway with Gary Bui and Tony Knauth fighting it out at the front, Nathan Tampe, Neil Ingram, Marc Christianson, and Gary Puttock about 15 seconds off the leaders all battling for positions and with Tam Bui, Gary Clarke, Shaun Rawlings, Brett McNair making his first appearence in the Top Ten after stepping up from the RTR class and Skip Jackson fighting it out together there was action no matter where you looked. After 15 laps of action it was Gary Bui taking the win 0.76 seconds ahead of Tony Knauth, with Nathan Tampe Hyper 8 - Sirio in the number three spot. The final points positions for the night saw in the Pro Buggy class Tony Knauth X1CR - RB with a nice consistent drive in first with 75 laps, Gary Bui Xray - Maxpower in second 74 laps and Marc Christianson in third on 73 laps, the RTR Buggy class points positions were Tim Nicol Bazooka - Infinity 54 laps, Scott Newhouse Sacker Pro - Hyper 43 laps, and our only lady driver young Samantha Coffee Hyper 7 - Hyper taking third with 41 laps, Samantha as a junior driver took out second place in Junior Buggy class ahead of Brad Jackson X1CR - RB in third on 35 laps, with Team OCR driver Kyle Hodges Caster ZX1R - RB way out in front on 54 laps.
