2007 UPGRADE / RCID Nitro Buggy Pointscore Series
Round # 9 of the 13 round 2007 Pointscore Series saw some awesome racing, some new faces at the top of the podium at the end of the night and some surprise upsets, but as always at OCR Raceway the action was fast and furious, and a top show was put on for the spectators.
Round 1 had Gary Bui, Neil Ingram, Tam Bui and Phillip Ciccone battling it out early, Marc Christianson and Tony Knauth getting caught up racing each other until Tony had an incident all by himself coming off the bridge breaking a rear upper link, the first breakage this season on the almost bulletproof X1CR, Tony was able to get the car repaired and back out but dropped 12 laps in the process, Gary Bui - Xray - Maxpower took the win 13.10 secs ahead of MBX5R - RB driver Neil Ingram, with Tam Bui - Xray - Maxpower a further 5.71 secs behind in third.
Round2 was an awesome battle between Phillip Ciccone - MBX5R - OS Speed and Neil Ingram MBX5R - RB, with both drivers getting a big holeshot on the start, getting away to finish a lap ahead of the field with Neil taking the win ahead of the flying Phil Ciccone just 9.52 secs down, Marc Christianson Losi 8 in thrid, Skip Jackson X1CR in fourth.
Round 3 was another of races to be seen with the top 5 or 6 drivers battling wheel to wheel for most of the 15 laps, with Gary Bui taking the win and the fastest lap of the event with a 28.711 the only driver in the 28 second bracket, ahead of Neil Ingram 11.33 seconds behind in second, with Tam Bui in third a further 10 seconds behind and Phil Ciccone 0.4 seconds behind in fourth.
Round 4 again saw a great battle with the top 3 overall event points leaders Neil Ingram, Phillip Ciccone and Tam Bui going hard at it putting on a great show of talent, with Neil having an event to remember having been in the lead overall by a lap for most of the event took the win just 6.34 secs ahead of Tam and Phillip, Gary Clark and Nigel Ellis making an appearence in the top group for the first time at the event with them both battling it out with RTR driver Scott Newhouse for the lower placings.
Round 5 Overall series leader Tony Knauth having had a shocker of a night with a failure in the first round , battled all night in the lower groups to come back from 22nd to gain a berth just inside the Top Ten group for the final race of the night, but the competition was too hot and it was all Phillip Ciccone who took a well deserved win 4.29 secs ahead of Tam Bui with son Gary Bui in third, Marc Christianson fourth ahead of Tony Knauth in fifth, Neil Ingram sixth, ahead of Skip Jackson, Tim Nicol, Gary Clark and Nigel Ellis rounding out the Top Ten.
The final results for the night in Pro Buggy were Neil Ingram - MBX5R - RB on 74 laps, Phillip Ciccone - MBX5R - OS Speed on 73 laps and Tam Bui - Xray - Maxpower also on 73 laps, The overall Pro Buggy Series is hotting up with a battle for second and third positions with Tam Bui and Neil Ingram both on 660 laps, Tam just ahead by a matter of minutes after more than 6 hours of racing, 5th and 6th places are also tied at this point with Marc Christianson mere seconds ahead of Phil Ciccone, both drivers on 592 laps, but its still Tony Knauth with the overall lead on 690 laps, the Junior Series is being lead by Kyle Hodges on 543 laps, Aaron Snowball in second on 408 laps and Henry Bui close behind in third on 405 laps, the RTR Series has Rory O'Connor in front on 345 laps, Tim Nicol in second 330 laps and Andrew Hutton third, with 42 drivers competing for points in the Series and 4 rounds left to complete, and the 2 lowest rounds to be dropped yet we can expect the points to close up even further and the racing to get even tougher.
RTR Buggy positions for Round # 9 were Tim Nicol - Bazooka RTR - 57 laps, Scott Newhouse - Sacker Pro RTR - 54 laps, Tom Jones - Caster ZX1 RTR - 33 laps.
Junior Buggy results Aaron Snowball - X1CR - 38 laps, Tom Jones - Caster ZX1 - 33 laps, Brad Jackson - X1CR - 32 laps
