2008 DAE Australian Nitro Buggy Speedway Championships
Hobao Takes Another Major at OCR !!!!!
With Nathan Tampe at the wheel, Hobao Hyper 8.5 and Sirio takes a win at OCR in the much coveted 2008 DAE Australian Nitro Buggy Speedway Championships, Tampe took a much deserved A Final podium from Top Qualifier Gavin Newman - Xray EC - Axe Rossi in second place with Kyle Hodges - HN X1CR - RB third just 0.39 of a second behind, Tony Knauth - HN X1CR - RB fourth with Shaun Rawlings - Sacker - Force taking the number 5 spot. Hobao cleaned up the Championships with a clean sweep of the finals, with Shaun Stewart - Hyper 8.5 - RB taking the B Final win ahead of Leigh Jefferies - Caster ZX1 - Force with Rory O'Connor - TTR S3 - STS coming home in third. B Final results here.
Qualifying was as expected very hotly contested with Gavin Newman - Xray XB8 EC taking the TQ honours with 44 laps in 5m04.053, the only driver to do a 44 lap qualifier, Nathan Tampe - Hobao - Sirio was next with 43 laps in 5m01.443, Phillip Ciccone - MBX5R - OS rounding out the Top 3 qualifiers with 43 laps in 5m02.836.
A new Dirt Oval lap record has been set!!!
Gavin Newman, again raised the bar by setting a new oval track lap record of 6.343 seconds at OCR, beating the old record of 6.452 set by Scott Newhouse in 2007. Check the Top Ten Fastest laps here
