Round 4 Finals - 5th December
The Finals of the Top Dog Dash for Cash Series not only decide who is this seasons Top Dog but also brings to a close another fantastic season of RC Motorsport from OCR Raceway. The finals were always going to be a tough race on a circuit thats has seen thousands and thousands of laps laid down since it's rebuild after the DAE Speedway Championships In August and of course the expected Darwin rains at this time of year, which had caused havoc on the already rough circuit earlier in the morning making for a huge job to get the circuit in form for the nights racing. The hour plus of open practice saw the circuit start to give up a reasonable but very rough race line. The TQ and 2008 Upgrade Points Series Champion Gavin Newman - Xray 808 - Axe, 2008 NT Champ Tony Knauth - Xray 808 - RB and 2008 NT # 2 Phillip Ciccone - MBX6 - RB, all going into the 60 minute A Final as favourites, but nobody was prepared to discount any of the 10 drivers that had all battled hard during the 9, 15 minute qualifying rounds over the past month and a half just to gain a position in the final, with former NT and Class Champions such as Gary and Tam Bui, Kyle Hodges and the llke all very capable of taking a win, but after an hour of hard racing, numerous and often lead changes, breakdowns, lapped traffic, fuel stops and all the excitement and spectacle of Nitro Buggy Action, it was Gavin Newman - Xray 808 - Axe Rossi - Werks taking a very hard earned win with 99 laps in 1 hour 26.388 seconds and a big gap of 7 laps on second placed Gary Bui - Xray 808 - RB - Proline on 92 laps ahead of Tam Bui - Xray 808 - RB - Proline taking a well deserved third on 89 laps. Race favourites like Phillip Ciccone coming to grief on lap 85 after battling with Newman for a good portion of the hour with battery problems, # 2 qualifier Knauth after leading numerous times pulling out on lap 67 with clutch problems, unusual from Knauth's normally bullet proof Xray 808 - RB package, Hodges out early on lap 59 with electrical problems, even the winner Newman had his fair share of problems, losing a wheel on lap 1 and flaming out mid race.

The 30 minute B Final saw another great battle, with Junior driver Henry Bui - Xray 808 leading from the start, with Shaun Rawlings - Xray, Nigel Ellis - HN X1CR and Henri Raafs - Hyper 8.5 all swapping places throughout, Bui's Xray running faultlessly for 32 laps to be 3 laps in front only to have flameout after flameout losing the number 1 spot to Shaun Rawlings, Bui never able to make back the lost time, having to settle for third just 15 seconds behind Nigel Ellis in second, but it was all Shaun Rawlings - Xray XB8 EC - Force - Venom 45's taking a fantastic B Final win.

Who will be the TOP DOG!!!!!
Round 3 - 21st November
With most of the top qualifying positions fairly secure going into the final 3 rounds, it was the last chance for the drivers hovering around the number 10 position to attain a berth in the 1 hour A Main Final to decide who will be the 2008 Top Dog, with 6 of the 9 qualifying rounds counting, it was going to be close at both the front and back of the field, with Newman and Knauth battling for the TQ and Rawlings, Chau, Puttock and Jones all fighting for the last position to get into the A Main.
Round 7 saw the number 1 and 3 qualifiers going into this round Tony Knauth - Xray 808 and Gary Bui - Xray 808 get a big holeshot off the start to run away with it, with Bui taking the win 11.52 secs ahead of Knauth with Ciccone - MBX6 - RB a very close third, Bui putting down a couple of blistering laps being the only driver on the circuit in its rough condition to put down 31 second laps. Newman - Xray came home in 4th with Chau - Xray 5th.
Round 8 had Ciccone and Knauth get away with the holeshot, with Ciccone getting away holding a good margin on Knauth with Newman closing in until lap 13 with mistake at the end of the back straight from Ciccone to let Knauth and Newman through, the 3 drivers battled it out until lap 19 when Knauth lost a glow plug, putting paid to his race, with Newman getting a good clean run through traffic and Ciccone making a another small mistake late in the race, this let Tam Bui - Xray get up into the number 2 spot behind Newman, with Ciccone coming home in third, Skip Jackson - X1CR, Hodges - X1CR, Jesse Newman - Xray, Chau - Xray, Puttock - RC8, Knauth - Xray and Ellis - X1CR rounding out the Top Ten.
Round 9 the final round of qualifying, again had the usual suspects at the front of the field with Knauth and Newman going in on equal points and Ciccone in third overall, the always aggressive start saw Ciccone get one of the quickest holeshots yet with a 47.74 sec but with the whole field getting a fantastic start also there was absolutely no time to hang about. With Ciccone and Knauth making mistakes under pressure on the rough circuit and Newman flaming out and Hodges pushing hard in fourth the front of the pack closed up tight, with the four battling it out, Knauth getting into the lead in the closing stages only to put it on its roof at the end of the very fast back straight to let Newman through into the lead, with just over a lap to go and the TQ still up for grabs, the 2 pushed hard but it was Newman coming out with the win to finish just 3 secs ahead of Knauth with Ciccone 26.78 secs down in third with Hodges a close fourth and Gary Bui fifth.
With that win it was Gavin Newman with the outright Pro Buggy TQ on 7 points, Tony Knauth in second with 10 points and Phillip Ciccone in third with 18 points. Now it all comes down to the finals to see who will be the

Round 2 - 7th November
As expected Round 2 of qualifying for the 2008 Top Dog Dash for Cash Series, was always going to be hotly contested, with Gavin Newman - Xray 808 - Axe Rossi coming into the round as Top Qualifier closely followed by Gary and Tam Bui both racing Xray 808 also.
Round 4 the first of the 15 minute heats got underway at aprox 7.30pm, with Nathan Tampe Hyper 8.5 - OS setting the pace taking the round win ahead of Tony Knauth - Xray 808 - RB in second and Gary Bui - Xray 808 - RB third, both Bui and Knauth getting into the 32 second bracket with 32.792 and 32.990, on the rough but grippy circuit, Phil Ciccone - MBX6 - RB fourth, Gav Newman fifth, closely followed by son Jesse Newman sixth, Tam Bui, Tom Jones, Skip Jackson and Kyle Hodges rounding out the Top Ten.
Round 5 saw a great battle between Knauth, Hodges - X1CR - RB and Ciccone, with Knauth taking the round win after a hard fought 15 minutes to finish 18.67 secs ahead of second place Hodges, with Ciccone hanging onto third place just 10 seconds ahead of fourth placed Gary Bui with Skip Jackson X1CR - OS in fifth, John Chau, Tam Bui, Jesse Newman, Henry Bui and Nigel Ellis X1CR - RB filling out the Top Ten.
Round 6 the final qualifying session of the night, was a fantastic race with some very close wheel to wheel action with Knauth getting out to an early lead being chased hard by Tam Bui and Ciccone, with Newman getting caught up on the first lap had a big job to catch the front runners, but pushing hard was able to get up and through to get onto Knauth's tail, the two battled hard for the remainder rubbing wheels and swapping the lead lap after lap, putting on an awesome show, but with a mistake on the final lap from Newman it was Knauth taking the win 36.92 secs ahead of Newman with Ciccone taking a very well deserved third ahead of Hodges and Gary Bui.
Round #1 - 24th October
Firstly a quick welcome back to Gavin Newman, back from the other side of our big brown land, Gav travelled the 3000km plus trip to Sydney to compete in the 2008 FEMCA event, although not one of Gav's best events, but the wealth of knowledge and experience that comes from racing on the same playing field as rc legends such as Osaka and the likes can only be of benefit and is priceless, welcome back Gav and congratulations on your 2008 Points Series win. And now on to the racing in the first round of the 2008 Top Dog Dash for Cash.
Again with the OCR circuit being ravaged by monsoonal rains over the past 2 weeks, not uncommon at this time of year, the track surface had taken a real beating, with all the rubber washed off and a layer of sand and gravel on the top again, the practice session and first heats were very challenging to say the least.
Round 1 saw Newman take the win ahead of hard charging Gary Bui and Tony Knauth, with Kyle Hodges and Gary Puttock battling hard for fourth and fifth, with Newmans young son Jesse taking a well deserved sixth ahead of Tam Bui, Skip Jackson, Tom Jones and Tim Nicol rounding out the Top Ten.
Round 2 again had Newman taking the win in the end, but it was Knauth that had the lead for most of the race only to lose a front wheel in the closing stages, but still coming back after a super quick fix job to hold Shaun Rawlings out for the number 2 spot, with Tim Nicol and Tom Jones 4th and 5th.
Round 3, with a clean sweep of the heats Newman runs away with it to take out the FTD for the night with 26 laps 15m 30.226 secs, with Kyle Hodges, second Phil Ciccone in his firsting outing with the new MBX6 finishing third Tam Bui 4th and Henry Bui fifth.
Someone is breeding Xray's here at OCR with more than half the field Xray!!!, soon we will have to bring in pest control to stem the plague!!!! .
