2009 Homewrap Summer Nitro Series Rnd #5
Hodges, Nicol, Knauth hit the Podium!!!
Knauth driving an RB powered Hyper 9 takes out round 5 of the Homewrap points series, but after a tight battle with Tim Nicol - MBX5R all night it came down to the last round of the event to secure.
Round 1 was all Phillip Ciccone - MBX6 taking a 17.76 sec win over Kyle Hodges - X1CR with Knauth in third, just outside the 27 second bracket with a fastest lap at 28.126, Nicol fourth, Daniel White - S8BX fifth. Round 2 saw Nicol take a big win over the field finishing a lap ahead with Gary Bui - Xray 808 second, Ciccone third, Leigh Jefferies - Xray 808 fourth, Hodges fifth, Knauth sixth with battery issues, White, Rory O'Connor - TTR, Shane Munt - X1CR, Henri Raafs - Hyper rounding out the Top Ten. Round 3 had Knauth on fire in this round putting down a 16 lap race, ahead of Hodges, Nicol, Tam Bui - Xray 808 and Jefferies. Round 4 again saw Knauth take the round win with Nicol second Tam Bui third, Gary Bui, Jefferies filling the Top five. Going in to the final round of the night Nicol was in the outright lead by one point ahead of Knauth. Round 5 the final for the night saw Gary Bui get up to take the win after Nicol and Knauth, who had both held the race lead for a number laps but both falling back after making mistakes under pressure, Knauth came back to finish second ahead of Tam Bui and Hodges, with Nicol home in fifth.
With 2 Rounds remaining in the 7 round series, Knauth takes the lead back from Gary Bui with Tam Bui third. But it could still be anyones series with the 2 lowest rounds yet to be dropped.
