2009 Nitro Season Opener

Well finally the 2009 OCR RC Motorsport season is underway, after months of rain, lots of upgrades to the OCR venue, with new lighting, raised pit lane, new PA system and lots more, the first event of the season went off without a hitch, much to the relief of everyone concerned. Even though the event was just to get warmed up, the racing was as always, hard and fast, with the majority of drivers straight up to speed and on the pace. With Marc Christianson - Losi 8 - OS, Tony Knauth - X2CR - OS, Gary Bui - 808 - RB, Kyle Hodges - X1CR - RB all right on the pace in the first round, Gary Bui taking the round win ahead of Marc Christianson, Hodges in third. Round 2 saw Christianson take the win ahead of Phillip Ciccone - MBX6 - RB, with Tam Bui - 808 - RB in third, Knauth fourth, Gary Bui fifth. Christianson putting down what would the FTD for the event with 14 laps in 8 m30.979. Round 3 saw Gary Bui take the win just .8 of a second ahead of Knauth with Tam Bui again taking the number 3 spot, Gary picking up the fastest lap of the event with 32.654 secs. Round 4 again saw another very close race between the front runners, with Knauth, Christianson, Hodges, Tom Jones - 808 - RB all battling for the lead, with Christianson and Knauth getting away in the closing stages going head to head, with Knauth coming to grief a few metres from the finish line running out of fuel, Christianson taking the win ahead of Jones and Hodges, The final round of the night was another fantastic race between Knauth, Christianson, Hodges and Jones, with the four drivers battling all race, with Christianson and Knauth going across the finish line almost side by side just 0.2 of a second seperating them, Hodges 4.71 secs down in third, Jones a close fourth a furter 3 seconds behing with Tim Nicol - MBX5R - RB rounding out the Top 5.
