Nicol & Knauth "One All in the Series"
Finally in between all the monsoonal rains and lightning strikes Round #3 of the 2010 Homewrap Summer Series got underway, on what was a very slippery circuit, with lots of sand and gravel areas making for some exciting and challenging racing.
Round 1 saw Knauth, Jackson and Hodges get out in front early, to run away from the field, Knauth putting a gap on second and third to finish in front 10.13 secs ahead of Jackson, Hodges right on his tail 0.7 secs behind, Danny White and Tim Nicol rounding out the Top Five.
Round 2 was a great battle between Series leader Nicol and second placed Knauth, the pair doing a runner early on to finish 1 lap ahead of the field, Jackson in third, Christianson 0.6 behind in fourth, Gary Bui fifth.
Round 3 was all Hodges, getting out in front early and running consistently, to take the win 5.95 secs ahead of Nicol and Jackson a further 2.3 secs down in third, Christianson and Knauth fourth and fifth.
Round 4 saw Christianson, driving an RB powered MBX6 this season take a well deserved win 4.31 secs ahead of Knauth's Hyper 9, with Jackson's RB powered MBX6 finishing in third, Nicol another RB, MBX6 combo fourth, and Tom Jones driving an RB powered 808 home in fifth.
Round 5 the final for the night, saw some tentative moments during heat 1 with some light rain falling, just adding a little moisture to the track, which made the tabletop and new ripple strips very very slippery. Jackson and Knauth getting the holeshot and matching each other throughout the race, so much so the two drivers fastest laps were exactly the same at 34.764 secs, in the end though Knauth took the win 2.44 secs ahead of Jackson with Nicol a further 3 seconds back in third, Gary Bui fourth, Hodges fifth, Dean Baker, Danny White, Jones, Raafs and Christianson rounding out the Top Ten.
