Jackson takes the win and the outright lead!!
This event not only brings us round 4 of the Homewrap Summer Series but also the first ever round of the Nitro X Masters NT Series, which is a National Series, with drivers from each state or territory gaining qualifying points to compete in the National Title in Victoria later this year "Read More"
On to the Racing!!
Round 1 saw Kyle Hodges driving an RB powered X2CR pick up the Holeshot with Skip Jackson's RB powered MBX6 and Knauth's Hyper 9 RB combo close behind to run away from the field, the 3 drivers battling for the lead with Hodges taking the win with Jackson just 2.89 secs behind, Knauth dropping back in the later stages to finish a further 21 seconds back.
Round 2 saw Tim Nicol and his RB powered MBX6 take the round win from the lower heat after having a dismal run in Round 1, Nicol taking the win with a 7 second margin, Hodges second Gary Bui 808, RB 4 seconds further back in third.
Round 3 had Sergio Manalvo out in front with the holeshot off the start, with Hodges and Bui right behind, in the end Hodges took out the win ahead of Manalvo and Knauth coming back for a third place ahead of Bui and Jackson
Round 4 the overall points standings going into round 4 has Hodges on top on 14 points, Manalvo second and Jackson third both drivers on 16 points seperated by 2.8 seconds after nearly half and hour of racing, Knauth on 17 and Bui 18 points, still anyones game at this point. The start was not kind to the outright leader Hodges, getting caught up in a first corner bingle damaging his pipe and costing him 104 seconds, this left Jackson to run away with it to lead from start to finish, Manalvo home in second 15.98 behind, Nicol and Knauth battling for third position throughout, Knauth taking it by a 0.3 margin on the line.
Round 5 the final for the night, finally had Gary Bui getting up to speed, the normally always fast driver had been throwing down some blistering laps but had been unable to capitalize on them with consistency issues until now, with Bui taking the win ahead of Jackson 11.67 secs behind, Manalvo in third a lap down, Christianson fourth, Knauth struggling home in fifth just 1.0 sec behind with a wing hanging off and a stripped throttle servo which was showing up some interesting ways of slowing the car down at the end of the super fast back straight!, Hodges sixth, Dean Baker, Tam Bui, Steven Peckham and Tim Nicol round off the Top Ten.
Jackson having a big night to take the overall win, the outright Homewrap Series lead and the inaugural Nitro X Masters round win, congratulations Skip!!!
