2011 Homewrap Summer Series Rnd# 7 - Final
The Old Guard takes the Outright Series Win!!!!
Tony Knauth driving an RB powered MBX6 combo takes the 2011 Homewrap Series Title, after a long hard battle over the last 6 months with Serpent driver Tim Nicol. Although it was Marc Christianson who took the final round win ahead of Knauth, the pair finishing on equal points, Marc taking the win by 4.94 seconds over the event. On to the racing!!!
Round 1 - Pro Buggy - Had Tim Nicol in fine form to take the first round win ahead of Knauth by 8.89 secs and Christianson in third. Nicol resetting the FTD record by more than 8 seconds. Christianson resetting the Lap record as well taking just over half a second off. Short Course Truck - Paul Mansell takes a 6.13 sec win over Henri Raafs, Shane Ussher in third just 0.5 secs back, Steven Jackson and Josh Sturt fourth and fifth.
Round 2 - Pro Buggy - Knauth fighting back to put a lap on the field ahead of Christianson and Danny White making good with his Durango to finish third, Baker fourth, Nicol in fifth struggling with a mechanical fault putting his title battle in jeopardy. Short Course Truck - Danny White putting in a good race to put a lap on Paul Mansell in second, Raafs through into third ahead of Ussher.
Round 3 - Pro Buggy - Another great battle for the crowds from the Top 3, Christianson getting the better of it to finish 6.02 ahead of Knauth, Nicol 14.42 back in third, Tampe and Jackson fourth and fifth. Short Course Truck - Mansell with another win 7.68 ahead of Raafs, 3.12 back to Ussher in third, John Bui and Josh Sturt filling the Top 5.
Round 4 - Pro Buggy - Christianson and Knauth again doing it at the front getting away big time to put 2 laps on the pack, Dean Baker making good for a third place, Nicols title chase effectively over with another mechanical gremlin. Short Course Truck - A new name on the leader board with John Bui tking a good 1 lap win over Mansell and Ussher.
Round 5 - Pro Buggy - Nicol coming back with a vengeance to take a 3.31 sec win over Knauth, Christianson coming through the field to finish 2.30 back in third, Danny White up into fourth Jackson home in fifth after a tough battle with Neil Ingram. Short Course Truck - Mansell back with another win over Raafs in second, John Bui hanging on for third Jackson and Sturt fourth and fifth.
New records set, the 2011 Nitro Championships just around the corner, all the top drivers in form the Championships are going to be a battle to behold.
