Sergio Manalvo crowned 2011 NT Champion!!

 

After a hard fought qualifying battle, it was Marc Christianson - MBX6 sitting on pole position for the start of the A Final, Nathan Tampe putting his Hyper 9 in the number 2 spot, Sergio Manalvo - MBX6 out of number 3 and Tony Knauth - MBX 6 out of 4, Tim Nicol - Serpent off 5, Local drivers filling the Top 5 grid positions, in what was to be an awesome battle for the 2011 crown!!! A nice clean start saw the whole field cleanly through the first complex of corners, Christianson out in front, Tampe right behind, Manalvo and Nicol together with Knauth settling into 5th for the run to the first fuel stop, Christianson and Knauth both running 10 minute strategies. Christianson running out front until a flame out in pitlane costing him dearly, Tampe moving into the lead ahead of Manalvo and Knauth, the trio all on the lead lap, until the next fuel stop, Manalvo moving into the lead ahead of Knauth 10 seconds seperating them at the halfway point, Tampe dropping down a lap but hanging onto third. The gap between the lead pair staying fairly consistent changing by a few seconds up and down until the next fuel stop, Knauth flaming out in pitlane, but getting back out just as Manalvo went past pit exit, going a lap down on the leader. Knauth pushing hard to go back past Manalvo getting back on the lead lap for the run to the finish, the leader holding a steady pace, Knauth working hard to get back within about 20 seconds, but running out of time.

Sergio Manalvo taking a hard fought well deserved win over Tony Knauth with Nathan Tampe home for third on what was a very very challenging, rough race circuit that tested cars and drivers alike!!

A huge congratulations to all competitors, but especially to Sergio for an awesome win, and to have local drivers take all podium positions and the Top Qualifier trophy was an excellent result.
