Outlaw Truck Racing

The Spirit and Intent of the Outlaw Truck class is to recycle 1/8 buggy's back onto the race track, and for those drivers that like the Short Course truck racing class but want more of the 1/8 agression and power etc etc etc :). The rules below are provisional and are subject to change, and must be considered with the spirit and intent of the class in mind. As most body and bumper fitments will require some form of adaption, modification etc all trucks are subject to safety inspections.

We have found the Outlaw Trucks to be a little more on edge than a 1/8 buggy, but having said that the lap times are within 0.5 seconds at the first event. So they look awesome, handle similar to a buggy, are just as strong and reliable and are just as fast on the track.

See the picture gallery below for fitment ideas.

The pic gallery contains a few closeup pics of mountings etc, theres also a parts list below of some off the shelf components (all available at OCR Pitshop)
One of the buggy’s in the pic gallery is a Hong Nor X2CR, using all Hobao off the shelf parts to mount everything excepting for a titanium plate front and rear to mount the bumpers to the chassis, I used titanium for the awesome big sparks it leaves behind on the track and it also doesn’t bend very easy and holds it’s shape well,  aluminium would be just as good as Tim has used. The body is a standard Hobao H10SC and I used the old body from the buggy inside to help protect all the internals etc from debris.
The other buggy is Tim Nicols,  Mugen MBX6, Tim used a Hong Nor universal body mounting kit, and an MBX6 Ackerman plate mounted to the shock tower for the rear body mount and a plastic lower arm holder mounted to the front shock tower for the front body mount. Tims body is a Proline SVT Raptor the one with the nice paint work.

There are some comparative pics also up against a 1/10 SC Hobao H10SC and against 1/8 buggy’s, Serpent and MBX6.
